World Esports Federation and Panam Sports establish Pan American Esports Championships

Santiago, Chile will host the first esports championships in the Americas alongside the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games

Santiago, Chile, September 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Global Esports Federation and Panam Sports confirm the organization of the first Pan American Esports Championships in Santiago, Chilein October 2023. The flagship event will feature world-renowned multi-genre titles and will be held alongside the 19e edition of the Pan American Games.

The Pan American Esports Championships will feature athletes from 41 nations across the Americas. The Pan American Championships and Games will be enhanced by the GEFestival – a showcase for celebrating the diversity of esports culture – and the flagship GEFcon which will bring together global thought leaders, stakeholders and thought leaders from esports and adjacent industries to share ideas and opportunities for the future of esports.

The WEF and Panam Sports will jointly establish the governance structures to oversee the coordination of the Pan Am Esports Championships. The Panam Sports General Assembly was updated on the development of esports and the success of the Commonwealth Esports Championships recently held in Birmingham during the Commonwealth Games. Further information will be shared with the respective National Olympic Committees and WEF Member Federations as detailed plans are confirmed.
