Wild Arms Spiritual Successor ‘Armed Fantasia’ Reveals Development Update; Decided Enemy Counts, Dungeon Themes, and BGM Ambition

The team behind the successful launch of the turn-based JRPG Armed Fantasia has shared a development update regarding several facets of the game. Models for the world map are still being made and testing is underway for the boat and the flying machine that you can use for the crossing.
Also, the concepts for the gadgets have all been finalized, although naturally changes may need to be made depending on how they work in practice. The team also confirmed that Soleil’s partner Stritsch will be a gimmick.
Moving on, the number of enemies, the Anomalies, has been decided. In addition, they have all been named and their signature information has been completed. Idle Battle Stances for Ingram, Alicia, and Euclid have also been completed.
When it comes to dungeons, some of the aesthetics players can anticipate are “classic stone-built underground ruins,” “western-punk church setup,” and “deeply ornate gothic style.”
Finally, although vague, a notable ambition is pursued for the background music. Lead game designer and scriptwriter Akifumi Kaneko said he’s considering a method of using the BGM that he’s never used in previous games, and that he “could be heading for the death of a hero”. So far, this unspecified soundtrack usage concept is still pending for finalization.

The April 2023 Kickstarter backer update revealed artwork for the following enemy, Fulad-zereh:
Set in the land of Londenium, the protagonist, Ingram, decides to leave his hometown after the death of his grandfather. He then becomes a Pathfinder, a profession using ARM (Aether Reaction Maximizer) weapons to rid the world of Anomalies.
Throughout this westernpunk wilderness, Ingram will engage many allies and foes in a battle that sheds light on Londenium’s past and future. Two of his party members are Euclid Sturges and Alicia Fairhead.
Players can expect a “full-scale party-based JRPG adventure” where a huge world map featuring puzzles, sea and air navigation with vehicles, and racing with real momentum are present. Exploring dungeons will require party members to use their gadgets, which will prevail against obstacles in unique ways.
Combat will be turn-based, using the Cross Order Tactics system. “The successive actions of characters play a key role in chain order, and disruptive force breaks interrupt enemy turn order”, so a vast degree of strategy is strongly emphasized.
