Stephen Pereira named Director of Technology Services at Calvert

PRINCE FREDERICK, Maryland – August 31, 2022 – The Calvert County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Pereira as County Government Manager of the Department of Technology Services.

During his 21-year career, Pereira has overseen and implemented technological change for businesses in both the public and private sectors. In his previous role as Deputy Director of Technology Services, he was responsible for technology budgets and contracts, records management, and the implementation of new information technology policies, standards and training within the Calvert County government. Pereira also served as the County Webmaster, managing the maintenance and enhancement of six websites under the Communications and Media Relations Division of the County Administrator’s Office.
Prior to joining Calvert County Government, Pereira worked in the private sector for 19 years, managing technology implementation, digital transformation, e-commerce, digital marketing and business strategy.
“During his tenure in Calvert County government, Stephen consistently demonstrated his technical and business expertise, professionalism and leadership qualities,” said BOCC Chairman Earl F. “Buddy” Hance. “We are confident he will excel as Director of Technology Services and look forward to many years of service and leadership.”

Pereira holds an MBA in Technology Management from National ChengChi University in Taipei, Taiwan. He recently completed the State and Local Government Executive Program at Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certified.
