St. Patrick’s Day boosts business in Savannah

People from all over the country are in Savannah this weekend to take part in the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. All these visitors stimulate business. “It’s exciting. It’s good to see the city come alive when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day,” said Corey Pennington, owner of PennyKix shoe store on Broughton Street. PennyKix has been open for 2 years now. Pennington told WJCL 22 News that holidays like St. Patrick’s Day help more people discover her store. .Pennington said while the weather was inclement on Saturday morning, that didn’t stop people from heading downtown. lots of tourists in the area so that was what I expected,” Pennington said. Pennington was one of the people celebrating on Friday. He said it was good to see his fellow small business owners also seeing a boost in business. “It can help tremendously,” he said. “I can imagine food and drink, hotels that I’m sure have sold out, that there’s no more food.” Pennington now looks forward to future St. Patrick’s Days and the business they will bring.

PennyKix has been open for 2 years now. Pennington told WJCL 22 News that holidays like St. Patrick’s Day help more people discover her store.

“I never thought I would have a business on Broughton Street in downtown Savannah and I just hope we continue to grow,” he said.

Pennington said while the weather was inclement on Saturday morning, that didn’t stop people from heading downtown.

“I would say it was as expected. As it was a Saturday I expected there would still be a lot of tourists in the area so this is what what I expected,” Pennington said.

Pennington was one of the people to celebrate on Friday. He said it was good to see his fellow small business owners seeing an increase in their business as well.

“It can help dramatically,” he said. “I can imagine food and drink, hotels that I’m sure places are full, running out of food.”

Pennington now looks forward to future St. Patrick’s Days and the business they will bring.
