It happens a few blocks from the entertainment district of Cincinnati. Residents tell KTSM 9 News that bargoers park next to their homes because the streets closest to the Entertainment District have “No Parking” signs.
Resident Roger Davie says this is the second shooting in recent months.
“They’re shooting in our neighborhood, and there’s no reason it shouldn’t go through a window, go through a wall, and somebody get killed, so it’s scary, it’s really scary,” he said. said Roger Davie.
Adding that they also had other problems in the neighborhood.
“People urinating in our yard, we come out here, we find bottles here everywhere, people come out at 2:30 a.m. screaming and screaming,” Davie said.
He reached out to District 8 city representative Chris Canales about his concerns and called on the city to close bars in the area at midnight.
“All these issues always come up at 2 a.m., late at night with this crowd that’s there,” Davie said.
KTSM 9 News contacted the Canales representative but did not hear back.
The El Paso Police Department says it is aware of concerns in the area.
“We will do our best to keep revelers in the real area and hopefully out of residential areas as much as possible,” said Sgt. Robert Gomez.
Adding that there is an increase in patrols in the area and there will be even more for St. Patrick’s Day.
“The West Side is doing extra patrols in the area, we also have officers working overtime on the weekends,” Gomez said. On St. Patrick’s Day, because it is a holiday and a major celebration in El Paso, we have additional units that will be added to what we normally have in Cincinnati.
