Pella Girls Tame Bloodhounds to Win 14th State Football Bid
Many of the drama needed to advance past the regional finals was unnecessary as Pella’s No. 4 women’s soccer team flexed its muscle in a 5-0 win over Fort Madison on Thursday. The win earned the Dutch their 14th state football trip and first since 2019. Pella didn’t wait long to start the scoring as Abby Warner found her first goal in the 18th minute. This was followed by another Warner goal a few minutes later, and three different Dutchmen, including Lauren Mace, Kaylee Van Polen and Lizzie Neumann, built an insurmountable lead before half-time. Pella enters the 2023 State Tournament as a seed four and will face No. 6 ADM in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 31 at 12:45 p.m.

Lyon t-14th at the State Golf Tournament
It’s a good start for a Pella Girls golfer making her second straight state meet appearance. Karsyn Lyons is tied for 14th after shooting an 84 at Cedar Falls on Thursday in the 2023 Class 3A final encounter. Lyons will return to action today on day two of the tournament.

Pella Tennis individuals begin their state trip today
As the Dutch await a final four as a tennis team, three of their players begin their efforts for individual honors today in Waterloo. Emily Blom is the No. 4 seed in her third consecutive appearance in a 1A singles state tournament, while the duo of Alloree Else and Lily Van Dusseldorp take on Spirit Lake’s Abbie Oleson and Taylor Schneider.
