Nashville party bus operators sue city over new regulations

Nashville’s new entertainment vehicle regulations are facing a barrage of legal challenges from business operators protesting what they say is an arbitrary permitting process with an unworkable set of rules.

Four amusement vehicle companies filed lawsuits against Metro and the Metro Transportation Licensing Commission — the body responsible for setting rules and issuing operating licenses — as of Aug. 31.

The commission nearly halved the entertainment vehicle industry in its first-ever permitting process in June, approving a total of 89 permits out of 159 applied for in a bid to reduce the number of vehicles on central streets -town.
