Midlothian football roundup: Newtongrange Star to face Musselburgh in Scottish Cup first round

East Scotland Premier Division side Newtongrange Star won 5-1 at Invergordon as Chris Robertson scored a hat trick on his 30th birthday for Chris King’s side at the Global Energy Stadium of Ross County. The long trip did not affect Star as they took a three-nil lead within 20 minutes, Liam McIntosh scoring either side of a Robertson brace. The hosts pulled one back before the break, but another goal each from McIntosh and Robertson secured a fine victory.
They will now face Musselburgh Athletic away on Saturday, September 17.

Penicuik lost 1-0 at home to Musselburgh and Easthouses Lily lost 3-0 at Drumchapel United. Although there were also exits for Whitehill Welfare, who lost 4-1 at home to Camelon, and Dalkeith Thistle, who were beaten 3-1 at home to Lochee United.
