Williamstown to host “Let it Rain” Golf Scramble

The Williamstown Basketball Club will host its 8th Annual 4-Man “Let it Rain” Golf Tournament at the Golf Club of West Virginia on June 24. The $300 registration fee will cover the following:

• Game fees/cart rental

• Skills competition

• Lunch and drinks

Cash payments! A maximum of 25 teams of 4 people will be admitted. Teams will be considered registered when they are registered AND paid.

34th Annual Fred Sauro Hoops Camp

The 34th Annual Fred Sauro Offensive Skills Basketball Camp will be held June 26-30 at Williamstown High School.

Students in grades 1-5 will have camp from 8 a.m. to noon each day, while students in grades 6-9 will have camp from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Campers are asked to arrive 30 minutes early on Monday, June 26 to arrange registration.

The registration fee is $100 per camper and applications can be found on Facebook by searching for camp.

Completed applications and checks (payable to Offensive Skills Camp) can be delivered to Williamstown Elementary, Williamstown High or mailed to Fred Sauro, 103 Kibler Lane, Williamstown, W.Va., 26187.

MOVTA Spring Fling Tennis Tournament

Celebrate National Tennis Month with the Mid Ohio Valley Tennis Association’s Spring Fling Tennis Tournament on May 20 at the City Park Tennis Courts.

The rainy date is May 21. Registration is now open. Closing of registrations on May 17 at 6 p.m. The cost is $20/player for the day, up to 2 events. It is open to all USTA and non-USTA players. The men’s events are singles 10-14, doubles 10-14, singles 15-18 and doubles 15-18. The women’s events are singles 10-14, doubles 10-14, singles 15-18 and doubles 15-18. The men’s events are open in singles and doubles. Women’s events are open in singles and doubles. The last event is the mixed doubles.

MOV Sports HOF Banquet set for June 10

The Mid-Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame will induct the Class of 2023 at 6 p.m. June 10 at the Grand Pointe Conference and Reception Center in Vienna.

Tickets can be purchased between May 1 and May 31 by contacting Secretary/Treasurer Don Ullmann at 740-732-5558 or from one of the inductees. The cost of tickets is $50 each.

Class of 2023 includes: Traci Cox (St. Marys), Don Fosselman (Parkersburg), Liz Flowers Price (Williamstown), Katie Roberts (Parkersburg), Kathy Archer Schalitz (Fort Frye), Mike Sheppard (Wirt), Terry Smith (Williamstown ), Tammy Spence (Warren), Scott Stephens (Parkersburg South) and Elizabeth Tokodi (Parkersburg Catholic).

Weeping Willow Church Softball League

The Weeping Willow Church Softball League will have an organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 22 at Hadley Field. All churches must send a team captain to enter the league.

Matches will begin on June 5.

Tee Off before a cure

The Tee Off Fore a Cure Golf Tournament to benefit Alzheimer’s Research at Marshall University will take place on June 3 at 8:30 a.m. and will be hosted by the Worthington Golf Course. This is a 4 person scramble format and registration begins at 7:45 a.m. The cost is $70 per player and checks can be made payable to Bill Hussell and endorsed by Teresa Cisco at (304) 675-0158.
