OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nick Lorusso’s 10th-inning home run gave Maryland a rain-delayed 2-1 win over Nebraska in the Big Ten tournament. The game was tied at 1 in the seventh inning before a weather delay of an hour and a half due to lightning in the area. Neither team threatened to score after the delay, but Maryland only needed a hit from Lorusso, who homered to left center on a 2-2 pitch with two outs in the 10th. . It was Lorusso’s 24th homer and 100th RBI of the season. Top-seeded Maryland will advance to a semifinal on Saturday, facing the winner of the losing Nebraska-Michigan State matchup, which will take place on Friday.

(AP) — Kyle Huckstorf notched a brace, Sam Petersen added a three-run homer and No. 3 seed Iowa beat second seed Indiana 9-4 in the second round of the Big Ten at Double Elimination Tournament. Hawkeyes starter Brody Brecht allowed three early runs before settling in and going in the fifth inning. Three relievers held the Hoosiers to one run over the final 4 1/3 innings. Will Christophers took the win. Iowa qualified for the semifinals on Saturday. Indiana takes on Michigan on Friday with a semifinal berth on the line.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Brock Vradenburg went 2-for-3, including a program record tying 22nd double, and Michigan State edged Rutgers 6-4 in the Big Ten tournament. Michigan State (33-21), seeded No. 8, earned its first win in the conference tournament since 2016 and will play again on Friday. Rutgers (33-23) lost both games in the tournament. Vradenburg tied Blaise Salter (2014) and Chris McCuiston (2002) for the most doubles in a single season at Michigan State. Vradenburg is hitting .403 this season with 13 home runs and 68 RBIs. Michigan State’s closer Wyatt Rush shut down the Rutgers offense in the final 4 2/3 innings.

Coach Deion Sanders’ side have added 20 transfers since the portal window opened on April 15. The Buffaloes have as many as 48 transfers in total, according to 247 Sports, and have room for more. Other schools preferred quality over quantity. USC, Alabama, Auburn and Northwestern are among the six winners of the spring transfer season.
UNDATED (AP) – An NCAA-commissioned survey of 18-22 year olds shows more than half acknowledged placing sports bets and two-thirds of those who live on college campuses say they engage in bets. Investigation findings come less than a month after Alabama baseball coach and Iowa and Iowa State athletes made bets in violation of NCAA rules . The purpose of the survey was to explore the prevalence of gambling. Thirty percent of the 3,500 respondents said their typical bet was between $10 and $20. But 6% said they lost more than $500 in a single day.
