Debbie Holladay discusses helping others in the business world

COLLEGE STATION, Texas β€” A local woman has been a pioneer in building financial literacy for Brazos Valley residents while uplifting women in business.

Debbie Holladay is CEO of Holladay & Associates, Inc. and Vice President of the Bryan-College Station Chapter of the American Businesswomen’s Association (ABWA). She has had her fair share of ups and downs in the business world.

“Eight years ago, we took a leap of faith and opened our business. It’s been a wonderful journey from there,” Holladay said. “There were a lot of learning curves, but there were also a lot of other supportive women in the area who helped my journey.

As a heavily involved member of the ABWA BCS Chapter, Holladay has seen firsthand how having resources for women changes their ability to make an impact.

β€œIt is women who help women succeed. ABWA’s mission is to bring together businesswomen of various professions, to provide them with opportunities to help themselves and others to grow personally and professionally through leadership, education , networking, support and national recognition,” Holladay explained. “And that mission statement is over 75 years old and that hasn’t changed and it’s still about passion.” Holladay explained.

As gender norms evolve, Holladay wants women to continue to focus on their ambitions.

“We are not competing with the woman next to you, we are working side by side each of us to better our community, ourselves and to provide for our families,” Holladay said. “It’s not about the gentleman who has a good paying job now, we see women who are paying their gentleman friends now, but the part is that we want every woman to be the best woman she is. can be in the category that it decides to be and that is what is important.
