Crystal Palace submit second offer for Chelsea transfer target Ronnie Edwards | Soccer | sport

Crystal Palace have submitted a second offer for Peterborough star Ronnie Edwards, according to Express Sport. The 19-year-old has attracted a lot of interest this summer, with Chelsea watching the defender closely.

After their second offer was rejected by Ligue 1, Palace submitted a £4million offer for Edwards, which could rise to £8million if the additional clauses are met. The Selhurst Park outfit are longtime admirers of the teenage prospect and stole the advantage in the chase.

Edwards is keen on a move to the Selhurst Park side, although it is possible Peterborough will request the defender’s return on loan for the rest of the campaign given the late hour in the window. Chelsea have also expressed interest in the centre-back, although it is understood he has yet to submit a bid.

Edwards made 34 appearances for The Posh last season, earning him an England Under-19 call-up due to his good form – despite the club’s relegation from the Championship. He then played an important role in the Three Lions’ recent win in the Under-19 Euro win.
