Augustana Athletics Wins NSIC All-Sports Award for Second Consecutive Time

History Ties BURNSVILLE, Minnesota — For the second year in a row and seventh time overall, Augustana is the winner of the NSIC All-Sports Award. Since joining the NSIC in 2008-09, Augustana has been the most awarded all-sport winner.
“This is such an important championship for us to win because it represents excellence on a large scale,” Augustana athletic director Josh Morton said. “It’s one thing to be great at a sport or two, but to have the kind of success we’ve had is such an honor for our coaches, our staff and especially our champion student-athletes.”
Augustana wins the award for 2022-23 with 211 points, bypassing Minnesota State which finished the year with 209.33 points. Additionally, Augustana Women’s Sports won the women’s title with 136 points, beating Minnesota State by 11 points. On the men’s side, the Vikings had 75 points to place second behind Minnesota State.
Augustana’s athletics department won seven NSIC championships in the 2022-23 varsity year, including men’s and women’s cross country, women’s swimming and diving, baseball, softball, women’s golf and women’s tennis.
Augustana will officially accept the championship awards on Tuesday, July 11 at the NSIC Hall of Fame Banquet being held in Sioux Falls this year.
The UA athletics department has now won the all-sport award in 2010-11, 2011-12, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2021-22 and 2022-23. Augustana also claims the 2019-20 title although it was not officially awarded due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
